The vast land of Africa brought forth the largest animal groups on earth, as well as the ancestors of human beings. In Africa, geological and climate changes for millions of years have formed deserts in the north and south, humid forests in the middle, savannas between forests and deserts, and high-altitude woodlands and shrubs in the east and southeast. These diverse habitats are homes to extremely rich flora and fauna. On such an uncultivated wild land, each species plays an important role in keeping the balance of the ecosystem.
